Who in their right mind spends that much money on a guitar, and never plays it.
Somebody who buys guitars for their investment potential. And you can bet they didn't pay as much as they're asking.
Can a high quality guitar such as these really hold their value that well?
Not just hold their value but actually appreciate. Especially if they are limited edition items. Hence my recent comments about the Gibson "eye".
The best investments are older instruments - especially 50s and early 60s Fenders and "golden era" Martin acoustics. But you can make money out of more recent limited edition Martins if you are prepared to play a "long game". Almost any good acoustic guitar with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides is going to go up in value.
