so I Have a cheap bag of bits with a body and neck. The body is a plywood construction.. yeah I know not the greatest.. with a few places of repairs needed....

so finally got round to sanding my neck, there was a "small" Chip on the tip of the Head-stock.

Shaped and sanded..
there is still a blemish on the epoxy finish of the top of the headstock.. but with out removing the epoxy top and with it the logo its going to have to stay for now at-least. ( call me sentimental but I like the look of the logo )

Finalized all my finishing today.. the last was the spring cavity that got sprayed Matt black

So now Progress comes to a grinding halt.. Until my bank manager approves..
on my small list includes
New Floyd Rose
All new wiring, including caps, pots, switches,etc
New tremolo springs, strap buttons, copper shielding, new Screws
New Humbucker

Fortunately we have some very very very good guys right here enter @guidothepimmp
and I replaced a genuine Floyd Rose II with a Genuine Floyd. so keeping it as authentic as possible.

of coarse things are never just easy are they.. the new Floyd block was just too small, springs fowling up on the cavity

but this was easy to solve. strip both floyd's change the back blocks out

Next to tackle is my electronics.
This is what I received in my box of bits.. they have been soldered and un-soldered a few times by the looks of things, and the 5-way is held together with a cable tie..so decided all new.

So while I Patiently await my bits and pieces, which basically is everything besides my missing Humbucker.
I've been thinking about the wiring
Now I've originally thought of going original as possible with wiring..

But then somebody on here posted links to strat wiring diagrams..( I wont mention Names... but its All your fault) which well got me thinking I Really like the Idea of having a tone control on the Bridge and well this sounds interesting

STRAT WITH MASTER VOLUME, MASTER TONE & PASSIVE MIDRANGE (aka Rothstein Guitars "Voodoo Tone" Wiring) -
This diagram features a 5 way switch with master volume, master tone, master passive midrange. The passive midrange control is available here at Rothstein Guitars as well as by some other quality vendors. The great thing about this configuration is that both the tone pots function as "master" tone controls. The first tone pot is a standard tone control which cuts highs. The 2nd tone pot is a really cool passive midrange shaper control which will scoops out the mids as you turn the knob counterclockwise towards 0, and as you turn the knob clockwise towards 10. The control is neutral on 5, and is now available on a custom taper pot with a center detente by Rothstein Guitars.

The midrange tone thing sounds handy. Apparently one can go treble control - bass control as well, with two tone pots. Add one more and one can have the full spectrum, treble, mid, bass. Right there on the guitar, saving you frequent trips to the amp... Remember the treble bleed cap. I see the original shows 1pF, now that is quite small. Should have no influence on pot taper, if I understand correctly?

yeah it looks and sounds very Impressive.. but as i looked at the drawing properly i noticed something that put me off that particular schematic.. you need to get there propriety tone pot.. which at the Cheapest they offer been $55.. no thanks

but I'm still Interested in a 2 knob master tone control for Strat's.. The Hunt continues..
or maybe something like the Kinman wiring. .. but does that mean my one pot needs to go from 500k to 1Meg?

so today's like Christmas for me Especially after 2 weekends of idleness.
Although shopping is not yet complete, least I can start progressing slowly again

so My other dilemma I have is..
I don't like the Colour of the white/cream original pick-up covers..

and the worst part is I Purchased Covers for another project and couldn't use them then, due to the pole piece position not been the same... ( I learnt something then about pickups ) and I still cannot use them now, even though the pole piece position is the same, the depth of the pickup is not as deep as the newer covers..

Tuckstir due to the pole piece position not been the same... ( I learnt something then about pickups ) and I still cannot use them now, even though the pole piece position is the same, the depth of the pickup is not as deep as the newer covers..

Been there, pulled my hair out too! Cort pups (Mighty Mite) and Fender pups covers <>. Can't even drill em out to fit, just doesn't work.

I solved my issue by finding some cheap squire bullter pups with covers to replace the cort ones. Which was also a upgrade - perhaps I got a decent set of ceramic bullets pups, stranger things have happened.

I Hate this part of the project. its in the hurry up and wait stage..
Just waiting on strings and Humbucker and then I can finally wire up and test play

so.. all wired up.. everything works as should.

and all strung up..

and this is where the issues start..
basically the bridge is set too high.. and as it stands i cannot lower it. I am using the original Floyd floating studs, and they are screwed as low as can go,

so while I await our lovely and efficient postal service to deliver my new anchor studs which will allow me to lower the bridge, I'll have to be content with just playing acoustically...
the height over the pickups is just too extreme, and have about 10mm gap.. they just cannot cope as is.

for now i have put on sacrificial strings as they will eventually be replace once the frets are replaced with these.
