Hi Dave
I had a pair of these back in the 90s and they were generally solid, but mine had a bit of maintenance to keep them going.
- Not sure of the LED situation, why it would stay lit.
- It is a LINE level input, so you need to go through a preamp, DI box or effects pedal first so get the correct impedance match and to get the level up to the correct operating level.
- Could be a dry joint or the caps might need replacing, in my experience.
The unit is at least 15 years old so the electrolytic caps could be drying out which will affect the power supply, which can then have a number of effects on the unit. Worth replacing the caps, AFAIR there were about 10 of them.
The pots in mine were also replaced owing to crackling and dropout.
I am in Jozi, if you are close I could look at it for you.
Regards Peter
