klaasvakie choosing a song thats way above your level is really hard on the motivation.
It is...! Even in failure, I try and get the technique out of the piece I'm struggling with -at least I get an idea of where I'm struggling.
klaasvakie Are there any songs you can add to the list?
Not all that many I can think of, but I'm far more a rhythm/bass player.
Always liked Spin Doctors - Two Princes for the phrasing of that solo, also doesn't use a typical minor pentatonic.
For something different I always liked the solo from Black Sabbath - Planet Caravan (Fun way to learn the Dorian mode and hear it mixed with E Minor Pentatonic).
And pretty much anything by the doors that has a guitar solo - almost always some flavour of Minor Pentatonic - more lead than solo, but that's entirely my speed ?
And a +1 for Nothing Else Matters - @NorioDS tells me it's a Hetfield solo - shouldn't surprise me - it's about the only Metallica solo I like.
Oohh and I almost forgot the shadows - again more lead/melody than solo....but there's lot of good stuff to pickup learning one's way through Apache.
