Right-o! @wern101 picked "Space" for the theme of our next challenge. How you interpret that is up to you!

? Entries Close: Sunday, 29 July, Midnight

?Rules: Do what you want but focus on the guitar. Wanna have 400 tracks? With piano, harp, harmonica, sax, drums, vocals, bass and xylophone? I don't care but I wanna hear it and think, "guitar". Don't drown out the guitar just to get a spacey feel. Try get the spacey feel from the guitar parts as best you can.

⁉How To Enter: Record your entry, sign up or log in to SoundCloud, post it there. Then grab the SoundCloud link and reply here with the link pasted in your reply.

?Prizes: R50 to spend on Raru's (pretty awesome) music instruments department. (Or any other department. I won't judge.) Also... you also win... the adoration and admiration of your fellow guitarists ? (Worth even more than R50 ?)

Worried someone will steal your idea if you post it early? Then post your link on the final day. (We do it this way to keep it simple for the competition coordinator.)

Anyone can enter this competition. You just need a guitar and a phone. But any other recording equipment is fine too.

And GO!

How's it going? Anyone got an idea yet for this one? Something you're noodling with?

NorioDS I had something funky last week. But I'm not thinking space is alllll that funky. More ambient n moody?

Might rope in some help on this one...that Ngoni jam I did with @Wizard a while back might just be re-visited...

I need to pull some finger here... Otherwise it will be last minute and I'll be out of time again...

Was playing around with some delay and reverb yesterday. Think I am onto something. Agree with Norio, should be a bit moody and deep. #epic

I've been looking at ambient and funky weird sounds for my MFX pedal... got some ideas... need some time to sit and play around. Clock is ticking :-O

This track always reminded me of 'space', doesn't even sound allll that dated...probably just me though!

Yeah, I've always associated space with those synth type sounds.

Jumped on Garageband on the weekend. Found a host of synthy sounds that I am going to use!

I'm going to have to do some Serious homework this week on my setup at home... I don't have a effect pedal at all, but I think my system has something ability.

and on the other front my ideas for this challenge has hit a brick wall... some more homework needed...

Tuckstir my ideas for this challenge has hit a brick wall

That tends to happen until you start playing, then the ideas start flowing. I had ZERO idea what to do till I plugged in, tapped the delay and starting messing about.

        Go for it. Doo it!

Yeah and related but on the flip side: I thought I had a great idea for Postman Pat. Then I plugged in and tried to do it and it was shyte ? Plan less, noodle more. (At least with these challenges.)

NorioDS I thought I had a great idea for Postman Pat. Then I plugged in and tried to do it and it was shyte

hahaha.. for me, it when you practice it and it sounds amazing to you.... until you record it and play it back and cringe...
But I do enjoy these challenges.. they are a learning curve for me, with the last one it was a challenge for me to get the timing even close on correct..

        NorioDS and it was shyte

Nonsense! Don't be so hard on yourself.

        Yes! - Noodle!

Tuckstir when you practice it and it sounds amazing to you.... until you record it and play it back and cringe...

LOL! I have the same issue. Recording is an amazing tool for hearing your stuff with less "brain candy". It seems our brains like to hide our mistakes and bad tone. Bastard brains! ?

Tuckstir I do enjoy these challenges.. they are a learning curve for me

Totally agree. From the monthly challenges to the big guitar duel... it's been huge learning curves. I've maybe entered less than 10 challenges in the 10 years this community has existed but each entry has been valuable to me in one (big) way or another!

Well last night.. plugged in my guitar, opened rakkarack... and started messing about with settings...
oh boy oh boy oh boy.... once I started playing with flanger and phaser setting.. Lets just say I think I have my sound.. Now to build a tune..
I was having sooo much fun just playing scales...

NorioDS I've maybe entered less than 10 challenges in the 10 years this community has existed...

          ? For Shame Mr @NorioDS . For shame.... ?
