Taking the climate argument out of the equation.. I can see great benefits for the consumer if the like of the big names us bamboo laminate if even just for there budget guitar Ranges, a material that can be grown quickly and cheaply, and still has good tone, as apposed to exotics that take generations to grow to maturity, can only be good to help keep pricing down..

The problem with bamboo is the fact that it is laminated. The strength lies not in the wood but the glue/resin that holds it together. I have a few ""sustainable" bamboo cutting boards in my kitchen and they are a waste of time. The don't like the dishwasher, split, snap in half. Even the good old cheap pine boards have lasted for years.
