Cites document for rose wood guitar

I have a question.

I am going to travel to South Africa and I buy a guitar with rosewood fingerboard.
Is there any trouble when I leave the country with the guitar with me, but without CITES export permission?
Or people travel abroad with rosewood guitars freely from SA?

I havn't travelled with a guitar since the new(er) Cites rules on Rosewood came into force (Jan 2017?).

Though I havn't heard of anyone having issues leaving the country with such a instrument...I have no idea about success of getting it into the destination country.

I reckon most of the issue would come from the country of arrival - which would mean you'd want a cites document from SA. Again, I havn't heard anyone moaning about it - doesn't mean it couldn't happen though.

Apart from going to the Cites web site, I would suggest that you contact them personally and ask direct questions.
I would think that a rosewood fredboard would not pose a issue as it has been processed, raw wood on the other hand...
Any way, just a idea.

it should be fine. I brought a guitar in from USA with rosewood board and didn't get a single question. This was in August last year.

Hi, I bought a guitar in pretoria with rosewood fingerboard February. There was no problem at all.
Just asked ifi t was a fire arm? just kidding!
I brought it to Japan and when I arrived at Haneda people asked if it was a guitar without opening the case. I just answered yes.
