Wish.com, Chinese Tech and Roll up drums

Hey everone.

In my hunt for cheap online shopping I came across the ‘wish.com’ website and was kinda blown away by the prices for guitar/music related stuff. Seriously cheap. After checking out some Wish reviews it is apparent that they don’t get it right all the time, which makes me on edge for ordering through them.

Having said that, I found some interesting music related items at not bad prices, when you consider that most are available through Amazon as well. I’ve taken it upon myself to do proper research and see if 1, wish can be trusted and 2, how they compare in pricing with other websites, specific to guitar/music related items. (Amazon and Takealot)
While I didn’t really find Guitars (Ukelele’s probably didn’t count) I did find LOTS of music related items. Here is a short list for comparison:

Konix USB Roll up drum kit:
Wish price – R866-00, Amazon R1200-00, None on takealot

JOYO:
Joyo JA – 03 Mini pocket guitar Amp – direct plug in to guitar and headphones: AT R179 (or R138, depending on seller) , Amazon R214, none on takealot

Joyo digital delay pedal: R384 on Wish, R599 on Takealot, none on Amazon

Joyo AC Tone (Acoustic tone) pedal: R599 on takealot, R342 on Wish, R555 on Amazon

I-Rig guitar interface adaptor (for amplitube): From R29 – R72 on wish, R426 on Amazon, none on takealot

I think you get the point. The list goes on and on and on.

So I guess the questions are –Have you ordered through Wish? What has been your experience?
Reviews it seems are positive and negative. Most complain about the long waiting times for delivery and some about the fact that the products that arrive are not what was ordered. All in all, positive and negative. I guess with a website of that size, and because it deals primarily with Chinese sellers, issues will arise.

They take credit card but you can also pay with PayPal which I think it safer.

I am in the mood to order a few small items through them and see what happens. Will provide feedback as well, but only after the silly season.

Hi Wern, yes wish are incredibly cheap, however
1. Don't expect top notch stuff, rather expect cheap knock-offs of cheap knock-offs,
2. allow 2 months + for postage... Seriously.. I have ordered 6 items from them on 31st August and have only received 1, which wasn't to the exact spec of advertisement.
3. its kinda like playing the Lotto with what you get.. if it say wireless headphone with active noise cancellation.. and SD card... expect to get Wireless headphones...
4. if you want quality, don't look at wish..
5. look at YouTube there are a few vid's on the wish app

The other problem with Wish.com is that the postage that has to be paid this side is sometimes way more than the article you ordered.

Thanks guys. That's what this forum is about right! Sad that we have to contend with the overload of info/sales on the web. So many traps and webs. Guess it's wise to stick to the one's we know are good and trustworthy.

I've ordered a bunch of stuff off wish, all come and all been pretty much what I ordered. SA has introduced a new thing where every package has a price of R24, which sounds cheap, but Wish literally sends every item as a seperate package. So, you end up paying quite a bit on this side.

Another side I rate quite highly is banggood.com I've ordered a fair amount on their. You get a tracking number (which Wish doesn't give you), so no R24, but you pay import duties. I've been really happy with their service. Some stuff arrived MUCH later than advertised and I needed it a month earlier than it arrived, they refunded me the full amount. So, I was really happy with their customer service.

BUT, both take a LONG time to come. Mostly because it lands in SA depot and then they take a good few months before they even process it.

Well pro's and con's then as I mentioned, but seems to be more on the negative side. Have decided not to order through them. Seem's like to much of a schlep/gamble.
