Hey guys,
I’m putting my rare Epiphone Joe Perry Boneyard Signature Les Paul up for grabs again, as the buyer fell through.
These guitars were discontinued, and obviously don’t come up much here.
Mine was manufactured at the Unsung Plant in Korea, in August 2006.
This gorgeous guitar is in good condition, and plays like a dream. She boasts a super-flamed out tiger maple top that has been tinted orange-y to really bring out the grain. This is complemented by the beautiful and buttery rosewood fretboard (which has no fretwear). This fretboard has trapezoidal inlays and the same cream-colored binding as the body. Moreover, the mahogany body and neck, which come finished in satin black, are a sight for sore eyes. The tuners are Epiphone-marked Kluson replicas, and the bridge is standard Les Paul fare.
Moving onto the electronics. These are a step beyond what you would find on other Epiphones, as they installed Gibson USA Burstbuckers on the Boneyard. They chose to put a model 2 in the rhythm position and a more gnarly model 3 at the bridge. An extra-cool feature is if you put that black pickup selector tip in the middle position (both pickups on) you will find that the pickups are wired out of phase (ala Peter Green).
The tone is killer if you are looking for the classic blues/rock sound, especially with the selector in the middle position. The out of phase Burstbuckers are just magical in this guitar. It has more of a processed sound in the middle position, almost like there is a wah or phaser in the loop. The other positions provide traditional Les Paul sounds, so you can get plenty of overdrive and crunch.
Lastly, you’ll see I have lowered the price slightly as upon further inspection I have found some blemishes and scratches (pictures of them are included, as best as I could, and are attached).
Damage:
- Small scratch on toggle switch
- Tiny nick right at the top of the headstock
- Minute scratches right at the top of the headstock
- Loose volume knob, as a result of the actual knob being worn out (which I can replace if you would like).
- Blemishes on the back of the body. It looks like oil (?) stains, but I don’t remember the last time I played this guitar whilst I was gloriously shirtless and oiled. So to be honest, I’m not entirely sure what it is.
- Hardcase exterior is not in good condition. One lock is broken, sticker residue from the adhesive, and some material on the sides have begun to peel off. However, internally it is perfect.
Regrettably no trades as I am selling this to fund another purchase.
