Anyone use a strobe tuner?

Are they available locally? I see them on Ebay for about 120-$200. Suppose they cost about double that over here. thanks

Huh? A STROBE tuner for R250! Are you sure the price tag didn't carry on wrapping around the box?

I'm not convinced I want one actually. Or more accurately I tell myself I WANT one but another part of my brain ask if it's going to complicate life. I think they're pretty handy if you have a guitar roady who is tuning one axe whilst you're playing another, but whilst they are probably very accurate they might not be that practical a proposition for a quick retune in between songs.

I think there may be a 0 missing from that price.

I just need something better than the cheap little one I am using now.

ok after a quick google i now understand what a strobe tuner is ...... my apologies , what i saw at music mate was not a strobe tuner , i suspect same principle but not what you after .

Strobe tuners are accurate, but I find them a little more difficult to use than a model with LED arrows. My favourites are the models with both a needle for accuracy and LEDs for the often low-light conditions of a stage. I've been using a Boss TU-12H for more than 15 years.

Thanks Alan I'll check out the Boss ones as well. I picked up my new guitar from Fedex this weekend, and the guy de-tuned it. Got home and realised I didn't have anything there to tune it with. Not even to give me a Low E. Tried with online tuner but my laptop speakers suck. Ended up tuning the low E by ear, which isn't too effective. Obviously I couldn't do a setup with lighter strings or intonation either, pain in the ass.

Another reason to go the software route...Guitar Rig's tuner can be a strobe tuner also... ?

In the good old days the dialling tone on a land-line telephone was 440Hz. This might have varied a little according to temperatures in the exchange or with wear and tear on the tone generation equipment, but it was seldom far off. If push came to shove you could tune the 5th string to dialling tone and then carry on.

So is there still a dialling tone? If so perhaps it may still be useful.

i tune my guitar every morning , i walk past it finger outstrecthed and tune it , by saying howzit guitar ........ lekker
