Ray Dont know who reads Guitarist Magazine. In issue 312 they have this article. Interesting, I see that they mention Squier Vintage Modified Tele Custom and Yamaha Pacifica. Why I find it interesting is that these are pretty low budget guitars and are given some very kind words. My immediate comparison to another industry is to golf. There is no way that I've ever seen a mag review reckon you should take a smack with a set of no-name irons or something. Anyway, I see that the Pacifica looks like it's got the same sort of config as the Cort g-series. Any comments on comparing the two brands. And what of the Tele? Any opinions? At the price I see it advertised, I think y'all should go out and get one asap.
dee Yeah, I read that article in Guitarist Magazine. Some nice guitars (and alternatives) on their list. The Pacifica has always been a great guitar for the price. So no surprise there. The editors and writers at Guitarist Magazine have always had a soft spot for the Pacifica. I can not remember what was said about the Tele, but if I remember correctly, it is also a great guitar for the price. As for the golf comment, Squier and Yamaha are not exactly no name brands, but I get what you mean. Although I'm sure Tiger Woods would still kick my ass if he used my budget clubs, and I used his expensive Nike set. The golf magazines I read quite often have budget or cheaper clubs in them. In the end it comes down to value for money, and getting the best equipment for your money. It is quite odd actually. My friends would comment on me spending so much money on a guitar, when they spend R1000+ on a single club, and double that on a driver. It's madness really.
Manfred-Klose Squier tele's are pretty awesome guitars!!!! dont judge a guitar by it's name, judge it by its sound and playablelity. The only thing that might suck is the pickups, but that can be replaced with something better.
dee The Fender 1952 Telecaster is Nr 1 of course ? Here is the article on Music Radar: http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/50-guitars-to-play-before-you-die-part-1-198927
Ray Never realized this was in any order of rank. So I must try and get my hands on the lapsteel before Gibsons, etc? But the tele looks quite lekker.
AlanRatcliffe Hmm. Strange how many of them are current production guitars and in the cases where they are not, the alternatives offered are. I suspect a slight case of keeping advertisers happy - which isn't usually Guitarist's style.

And I've owned a couple of number 8 - which are also cool but less expensive.
