doc-phil So i'm looking to buy a new guitar... I want something between R3000 and R6000 or thereabouts. And it must be metal!! 8) The kind of music I play is similar to August Burns Red, A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon, Killswitch Engage etc. Can people please give me their opinion on what the best guitar would be for me within these parameters ? Thanks
andrewjbryson New : for that price range Check out the Cort EVL series. Otherwise , I would look for 2nd hand Ibanez RG / RGA ... check the gumtree's / papers/ classifieds
inflames I second the cort EVL series. I have a jackson warrior and it is a great "metal" guitar. I'm a big Jackson fan so have a look at the following guitars: Kelly King V (My next guitar). Rhodes There are also some sick ESP and LTD guitars that I like and would love to own: Alexi Laiho model. Static-600 Max-600
doc-phil ok thanks i'l have a look at the EVL series. I just recently sold my jackson randy rhoads so i don't think i'l be getting another jackson. I'm most keen on getting an Ibanez at the moment. Is it even possible to get ESP and LTD in SA? Those guitars look so amazing, i've just never seen them in stores...
Riaan-Combrink doc-phil wrote Is it even possible to get ESP and LTD in SA? Those guitars look so amazing, i've just never seen them in stores... Stocked by Marshall Music in Cape Town. Check whether they have a KZN store, or perhaps contact Marshalls online.
Explorerlover I saw a ESPLTD EX50 in black at Marshall the other day for about R 4500. Music Connection in Jan Smuts Ave probably has the biggest variety of ESP/Ltd's that I have seen.
david1976 In Durban, check Marshall Hillcrest, Marshall Midlands and GVM {Glenwood Village Music} for stocks on LTD and ESP guitars
inflames I know you want a metal guitar, so I know that Adam from Killswitch use EMG pickups. So first play all the possible guitars you like and hear the sound / tone of the guitar.
doc-phil I've never seen any ESP's/LTD's at GVM, but i'l have another look. i've never been to Marshall Music in Hillcrest so i'l look there as well. I also went to the Cort website, some of those guitars in the EVL series were looking top dizzle. In terms of pick ups i would probably want some EMG 81s and 85s or some sort of seymour duncan pickup. I;m also interested in Caparison guitars (the guitars used by KSE), has anybody ever used any of their guitars??
inflames Well if you find a store selling Caparison guitars let me know ? I have never seen a store selling them. _-L-_
