Just wondering if there are any novel/innovative ways y'all have for warming up hands for playing when it's particularly cold?
I've not been playing much this week, for some reason I've been unusually cold (weather hasn't helped) and my fingertips in particular have been suffering on the cables that real bassists call 'strings'.
My default method is a hot water bottle, but that is a hassle - I'm thinking one of those microwavable beanbags in the shape of gloves 8).
What method do you use (if any?).

Those plug in silicon gel water bottles with a lining. They keep their heat for a long time and if covered with a fleece lining, holds the heat longer and serves as an excellent hand warmer.
Do not recharge while in the fleece liner, fire hazard...

Warming your hands at home is not a problem, there are many ways as mentioned; hot water bottle, buckwheat bags, soaking them in hot water for a while, clasping a cup of hot coffee. But the problem arises at gigs.
I recently had to play at an outside gig in Jozi at night, with the temperature around 4 degrees. I didn't bring any gloves to the gig so the only thing that helped was clapping and rubbing the hands together between numbers. The fingers lost all feeling during the numbers though. Made a few mistakes but the show must go on eh?
