looking for a (very specific) teacher

ok all, looking for someone who fits all the following bills:
- patient (i've been relatively dormant for some time and need someone to help me build up technique, strength, etc)
- can teach electric lead & rhythm and acoustic (incl. fingerpicking); i'm looking to become a bit all-round competent
- is able to help me round out my songwriting skills
- can travel to morningside, sandton; i don't drive
- has a working knowledge of reaper or presonus, but this isn't a deal-breaker

preferably, this teacher shouldn't cost a fortune either ?

by this time next year, i'm looking to start actively gigging, looking to join a bit of a jam band, recording my own stuff proper-like, etc. i'm seriously willing to put in the effort, but i really need the teacher/partner to accompany me on this journey.

EDIT: guess i should mention; blues, blues rock, folk, folk rock, some pop, i'm not really genre-locked.

Hi Dom,

I always suggest Kierra. She helped me a lot to understand music. Although I don't think she knows Presonus, she is more of a live performance kind of musician. Don't know about the songwriting either. But she's been playing guitar professionally for (don't quote me) 20 odd years I think.

Is Skype out of the question?

Tony Cox offers Skype lessons, and the folks I know who've done them say that they actually prefer Skype lessons to normal lessons.

I used to have weekly lessons with Tony and can certainly attest to his patience and teaching ability.
He showed up all of my previous teachers as having just been unemployed musicians.

I learnt more in those 3 years than the other 12 years I had been playing combined.

shibs, skype is not out of the question, and i gotta say i have seriously considered tony's skype lessons on more than one occasion. i have even gone to a group lesson or two he hosted at his house up here (now we're talking donkey's ago). unless i much miss my guess, i think keira was at the same session ?

speaking of kiera, nitebob, she's been recommended to me before. i've seen her play on more than one occasion, so i do know her wide range and capabilities.

i think choosing a teacher (especially later on in life) is a bit like choosing a shrink. you may need to go through a few before you hit on the right one. i've been through one or two already, let's see what happens. some considering to do, and some thinking...
