GAS.. The story continues..

Neps

Well.. It seems like guitar playing has caught on amongst my friends.. Jip, some of them have never played any instrument (and we are all between 26-33.. Sacralige, I know) So I got a call from two friends this week.. One took the plunge and bought himself a 1/4 life crises guitar.. A nice sounding Cort acoustic.. The other bought a 2nd hand Honda (i think thats the name..?) plus a Berhinger Varitube amp (i think thats the name), and both were at my place last night trying to figure out this guitar thing..

Very funny sight seeing these two blokes trying to get to grips with guitar playing.. And both already started experiencing more GAS.. They are already starting to talk about getting more toys..

Had to laugh quietly at those first naive signs of GAS.. ? If they only knew it gets worse!!

gas is so addictive , that my wife has finally caught on , and given me a budget every month , and if i want more i need to motivate it , which doesn't take much

Squonk

GAS, very addictive but bad news for new guitarists, I have seem some get caught up in all the gadgets and gear and forget about the guitar playing!
@ Tailon , that's a fine wife you have, one that can understand GAS. I guess we wont be doing the swop for the Capo then ?

Well I hope my firm hand will keep them in line to 1st learn to play before buying more gear.. But then I start to think.. If the buy gear (and both can afford nice gear), stop playing.. that stuff is just going to lie around.. And I can then get it from them for cheap.. Jip I'm EVIL!!

LMinnie

That sir...is shear brilliance ?.....mmmmmm ....me thinks its time to convince some friends to start playing!

You now also have people you can sell your older gear to when you want to upgrade. Yup - friends who play can be useful.

This seems a good time as any to mention I also succumbed to GAS and bought a Fender Stratocaster last weekend...

Any regret? NEVER!

No offense to your mates, but they probably don't know enough to take your gear off your hands for respectable money. Yet another wonder of GFSA, I now know way more about gear and the likes than what I did before.

So get them to sign up and we'll sing the praises of your gear you want to sell to them! ?

Hi Dee, congrats on the Strat. I see its an HSS - I believe it is one of the most versatile guitars around. GAS WINS AGAIN - but I don't see anyone complaining.

Got myself a Laney Lionheart 4X10 amp last week. I am a self confessed sufferer.

Spyke you are a genius!! I have told all my mates who do play to join.. These 2 are going to be quite a bit of fun. They last night accused me of being impatient with them.. But seriously.. How difficult is it to learn to play A E D as a sequance..hahaha

Heath

hey at first , learning to even swap chords is bloody difficult , but once you do it , you think you a genius , then comes them damn barre chords , which are also a pain in the backside . then picking and strumming , all of this is difficult until you know it

And there I was thinking I am the only bad friend out there.. ? . But still, I can remember the first stages where you want to try out everythhing on the market[or GAS]. Still got the old GAs though, but more knowledgable about the stuff I wanna try.

I AM NOT LIKE THAT! I can't believe you accused me of THAT! ?

GAS is exponential, the more you have, the more you NEED.
