Introduction
Jozi
Good day Guitar Lovers.
I'm from Jo'burg and I love and collect old/vintage guitars.
(Neurotic about playing new instruments for fear of scratching them so I prefer the old timers and the enjoyment of hearing an old buck sing.)
I've performed as a singer, bassist, acoustic guitarist and the occasional electric since 1981.
I so wish, someone local would manufacture fret files and such, so as not to have to import from the States given the pathetic state of our currency.
Ciao for now

Welcome to the forum, nice kit! We all like ourselves some old guitars ?
What we dont like is lack of pictures... ?
Cue not so subtle hint about lack of gear shots...

Welcome Jozi! As the man said, picks are the ticket. Would love to see the migma violin bass. I am not a bassist but those violin shapes are simply awesome.

Hi Stoffel. See pics of my Migma attached. I bought her 2nd hand in December 1977 - cost me 3 months wages. She still has her original flat wound strings. Unfortunately, two of her original plastic tuner buttons disintegrated and she was sold to me without her cover plate where the neck bolts onto the body. Her A string tuner has been replaced with one that has a metal button and I was too dom in those days to know that I should have held onto the original tuner. You can see that her D string plastic tuner button is gone but that tuner itself is still original. (I use a small spanner just to adjust the pitch of that string...lol.) She has a 4 way selector switch to activate her pups and basic volume and tone controls. Floating bridge helps to adjust intonation and string height. Very nice for recreating that vintage blues sound from the 30's to the 50's and skiffel from the 60's. She's a much nicer looking violin bass than the Hofner violin bass that Paul McCartney used to play (hence the name Beatle Bass). Jozi
