A loong time ago my guitar teacher was trying to get me into a funky frame of mind and he had me go through Prince's discography - at the time I wasn't much convinced -but I'd based my opinion on his POPular releases.

We've heard of his vault...well, I take it back...Mr Purple Rain was one funky guy!

there's a bit of debate if this next one is Prince or not - keys do sound a lot like Prince? There's quite a few other artists on this channel worth a listen.

Keep in mind Prince done almost all instruments on his recordings.
his band was really only for live settings, from what I have read at least.

I saw a lot of debate in the comments of that youtube album - thought he might have a few studio cats in if it was a live jam.

The bass and drums are oh-so-tight...
