Hello guys and gals.

So today I accidentally 'inherited' a guitar. Fortunately no one passed away. ?

Its a 70's Yamaha G-55A Nylon Acoustic (Taiwanese made). It has 2 serial numbers:

One directly inside the sound hole: 30723476
One on the neck, inside the body: 036018

I googled serial numbers etc for this guitar but came up empty.

Can anyone give some info on this? How can i find out the exact year and manufacturing history?

Thanks.
    Pictures or it didn't happen.
Accidental (impulsive) NGD's are the best.
Love it when guitars find their owners ?
Congrats, it's normally those that grow on you and earns that special place in the guitar sanctuary.
I suppose that we shall hear it going through its paces soon with an upcoming comp?

I saw it once or twice but he had sentimental reasons for keeping it. Not anymore... ;) :D I wanna use it to teach the kids with.... but needs some TLC first. And yes...i may just use it in the comps. not sure yet. Haven't played a nylon in ages and don't know about this one's action and tone yet... Time will tell. This now bring the total to 3 acoustics and an electric... ::) How'd that happen???
          Nice..

          That will clean up nicely.
Some fresh strings and she should be nice

Yes I think so. Lovely deep colour it has...almost red.

Anybody know how/where I can find info on the serial numbers? I also emailed Yamaha SA and waiting on a reply...

              Nice, I love 'barn/closet' finds.

With ease...trust me, it gets even easier ?

I've recently seen a G-55, but a 60's japanese one. The oddest neck profile, quite different to the standard spanish classical. Sounded great though!

Yahama's are made pretty well, so there shouldn't be any lifting/bellying around the bridge?

so do i - people who have gems hidden away and don't know it.

Yeah - seems unused guitars are gravitating toward me these days. I'm not complaining... 8)

belly lifting ever so slightly, barely noticeable.
