Marc Maingard Hand Built Grand Concert Classical Nylon String Guitar
FonkyHonky
Marc Maingard is a highly esteemed luthier with an incredible history. Amongst other things when he was in the USA he worked with Santa Cruz guitar company making acoustic guitars and then later with the legendary Jimmy d’Aquisto perfecting his jazz instruments. His clientele consists of people like Steven Stills (Crosby, Stills & Nash), Earl Klugh and Hollywood actor Steven Seagal. A quote from Steven Stills - “It was in South Africa of all places that I should find the best guitar maker in the world. A unique and lovely sound, he’s really one of the best.” – Steven Stills. The guitar has been used on some studio recordings as well as classical recitals but other than that it has never travelled. The body is solid Brazilian Rosewood back & sides with solid, aged Cedar top and Ebony fingerboard. The guitar has amazing balance, ridiculous volume and projection. Just mature and rich. Much more than any other instruments I’ve ever played. Very little nail noise which is excellent Bass is completely balanced and has a lovely deep voicing. You won’t find much better as it has the age factor behind it as well. That counts for up to 30% of the sound. Mids are very similar to a mix between the Torres sound and a lattice brace guitar like the Smallman’s. Treble is warm & sweet, Hence the reduced nail noise. Very much the David Russell treble sound Can be played classically or in a flamenco style. Handles all playing techniques very well. This guitar is comparable to a Manuel Rodriguez or a Jose Ramirez. Price :R28,000.00 Location : Randburg, Gauteng

What a beautiful guitar! If only I had a ship coming in...
Why are you selling such an exquisite instrument, FonkyHonky?

Hi There
Thanks very much for the compliment, it is a very nice looking and most importantly great sounding guitar.
I'm just thinning out my collection, getting rid of guitars I don't play often enough to warrant keeping them.
Kind Regards
