Anybody used D'Addario Flat Wound acoustic strings?

At the moment I am manically working on fingerstyle blues and folk, Clapton and Croce on acoustic and the string squeak is killing me. I am currently using the D'Addario coated strings.

Does anyone have any experience in using their flat wound EFT15 acoustic strings. Are there other options, who sells them in CT?

Maybe read up some on silk n steel strings?

The D'addario distributor (Rockit) is in Cpt, Mars is the official retailer. Possibly a special order item though - I did get convince Rockit to bring in short scale strings, took about 6 weeks, but they did arrive.

Will certainly look into this. Going to Dubai this weekend, maybe have a look around at the music shops there. Their prices don't appear any better than SA for guitars though

Also, if you can, try more than one brand. I haven't tried flatwound skinny strings, but bass-wise, Labellas are completely different animals from D'addario flats, and Thomastik-Infeld are supposed to be incredible- but priced to match

Range seems to be far better, spotted Godin dealer with decent new prices - their 2nd hand prices are laughable though. http://musicchamber.net/showroom/index.php?route=common/home

Strings don't seem much cheaper either...but everything is negotiable 8)

Yes, Thomastik-Infeld are absolutely amazing!

I self-learned most of my finger technique on a classical guitar that I eventually strung with Thomastik Classic-S rope core steel strings.

That was such an amazing experience that I promptly went and installed Thomastik-Infeld Plectrum flatwounds on my dreadnought. Never looked back. Never mind the price... they are SO worth it.
