To my fellow rhythm players, please advise????
I recently purchased a well cared and loved second hand Marshall VS65 with a gold something speaker. The previous owner had a lovely L series strat with aftermarket Duncan Seymor lace somethings pick ups. The amp sounded absolutely superb and was the kicker for the sale. (no pedals just clean)
I got home plugged in and was disappointed.
I could not achieve the same warm tone as he had demo'd. The sound was overly sharp and crisp with very little bass punch and my ears told me that mids shaping did not make much of a difference either.
The Treble was set at 0 to 3 at which it simply became to sharp for my tone preference
I play two electrics by preference.
A Fender Special strat with Texas special pickups and a grease bucket configuration on the pots and pups. (Which I am not planning on changing) with Fender 10's (The quack when really moving the strings is almost distasteful. When strumming softer it does improve but not much)
My other guitar is a Tokai LS 92 which with humbuckers with Earny balls.
The amp and humbuckers seem to gel better till I turn the volume up and use the on board effects (yuck!)
Please assist with guitar tone pot settings and amp settings to get a clean rhythm tone.
I am g@tvol of struggling. My ears know what they like in a band mix and this is not what I had imagined.
Thanks
No option as to purchase that L-serial number Strat as well I think. You can try this:
