A fun (little) rig

The junkies are always up to something, yesterday I popped in and witnessed...this. ??? One of those teeny marshall amps hooked up to a ME25, a homebuilt tele and... https://www.facebook.com/249515978546164/videos/637715246392900/ Was a laugh...except that that little thing cleaned up beautifully when rolling the volume back on the guitar - not quite a valve feel, but most unexpected!

Also use it as a wired in ear monitor with it clipped to my belt

i have the little vox one. for the most part it sounds horrific! except for a few sweet spots... think i must mic it up as per the pic and see what happens.

Why not...? We did have a chuckle about on-axis and off-axis being much the same on that teeny speaker...the head of the mic is probably bigger than the speaker ?

Bizarre that such a crappy sounding little box, miced up into something that moves SERIOUS air (10k PA) sounded good. The vid doesn't really do it justice - the louder we cranked the PA, the better it sounded!

well i'll be mic'ing thusly: sm57/line 6 kb37/reaper and out through some little yamaha reference speakers (i hesitate to call them monitors). sooooooo. it'll probably take some tweaking to get real volume. i wonder what it'll do for vocals mic'ed the same way...

Apparently there is some science behind having the speaker you are recording being the same size of the microphone diaphragm that makes it sound better.

Only problem is that Graham likes it. It'll take something equally interesting to get it out of his hands. Which is fine, cause that means we'll get to play it...a lot ?

Not sure I'd keep the strat neck pup, think it'll be even better with something lipsticky in the neck.
