What am I playing?

Hey all.

I've been messing around on the acoustic and have been playing with just the bottom b & e strings. So i basically play the e, a, d and g strings open and fret only b & E on the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 12th and 14th frets. Not both strings together but kind of one string one fret at a time (does this make any sense? ???)

Are these classified as Chords? I can't seem to find any info on it...

Please assist? What do we call these 'chords'

A chord, in music, is any harmonic set of usually three or more notes, so the question is how many open strings are you strumming when you hit that note on the one string pressed?

I sometimes strum all of em. Sometimes only 3 or 4.

Yeah they'd all be considered chords, or more specifically a slash chord. Reminds me of Jimmy Page who loved to play around with those two bottom strings and alternate turnings.

Thanks Stud! That song is great and pretty much what i'm doing (albeit at beginner level and not nearly as cool sounding)
