I started late with the women's cycling road race (realllly scary downhill run!) and that was a epic race.

Chad did real well to take silver in the freestyle (epic race).

Yup. Following but not as much as I would like to. (Responsibilities.... pffff)
Wanted to see the SA gymnast in action. Not sure if I have missed his comp. Hope there will be reruns.

G'day Sports fans.

It's been a great weekend for SA Athletics over there in Rio.

Did you see Wayde van Niekerk's 400m run? Oh My Word! ? The stuff of legends and truly remarkable with a New World Record! :applause: :woohoo:

Luvo Manyonga also did great at the long jump and almost had gold, but had to settle for Silver in the end. Still, an amazing competition.

And let's not forget Akani Simbine who managed a 5th place in the 100m final, a fraction of a second behind bolt. This kid has got a bright future as well.

Other highlights for me over the weekend were the woman's heptathlon, and Men's 4 x 100m swimming relay. Phelps finally bowing out after a very successful career.

Looking forward to the 200m sprint and men's 4 x 100m sprint relay. Not gonna get much sleep this week.

Pity Bolt made history with his third gold in the 100m, kind of takes the spotlight off Wade a bit

Simbine was good stuff, could easily have taken bronze.

Whew...SA got a gold, and what a run from Wade!

After the swimming and rugby I was kinda worried - not that medals should be important, - but for future funding, medals are a yardstick (boooo!).

Simbine run sub-10's twice...semi's and final - I'd give him a medal, that's seriously quick.

Even though there were no saffers in it, I enjoyed the discus, the final round was fairly exciting with medals changing every throw.

The 7s was a little bit disappointing with SA not getting to face Fiji - as a potential final, that was a mouth watering prospect!

Almost the only thing on supersport 204 and 205 today is men's 100 and 400 metre finals. Over and over and over.....?
