There's a bit of yak-yak in this vid, but it's a useful trick I've used since I watched it. Skip to about 3mins to get to the 1st example.
I came up with Gminor as the tonic of the progression for The Loner. Although I didn't know what the lead was in, a bit of googling found the quote below, I didn't check if this actually it though.
...based on the G natural minor scale (G, A, Bb, C, D, Eb, F), and the ending improvisations in G minor pentatonic scale (G, Bb, C, D, F, but you probabaly all know that scale).
