What happened to them?
Was hoping to get some Alnico 4s for a project, but the site seems to be down.

Was about 2 years ago (+/-). I got all the humbucker generators nobody else wanted (2 I think, all gone now).

He mentioned he was still keen for importing parts and bits - perhaps that why the site is still up. Though I havn't heard anything.

People are sooo keen on the strat city limits sets - hardly ever see them up for sale. The generators were good, but I never much dug the rocksongs.

So the rumor is that the Squier Classic Vibe pickups are made on the same production lines to very similar specs to the tone rider single coil pickups- I know the CV parts are available with cheap shopping on eBay. Of course, I'm wondering why I sold the bucker I had bought to put in my Tele neck- would be nice to see these available locally again

I've read the same thing, apparently CV fenders have re-badged tonerider pickups. From what I've read - it's tough to say categorically that this is so - but apparently they are made in the same chinese factory, part #'s are rather similar, output is similar and visually they are similar.

And they go for around 1/2 the price of legit toneriders. Alinco magnets, reasonably priced, looks like decent build and sound good. That's all I need to know ?

Errr maybe...there'll have to be a profit motive for importing. There are local guys making pup's for similar money as a set of new toneriders. (Single coils, the local humbuckers are bit pricier).

Was a general thought...I've put no research into the pricing... I've just recently priced British bike parts on eBay and they are a lot cheaper. lol.

Firsthand, lapdawg has wound a few pups that I've heard. They were good. We've had a good few chats about what works in a pup and he's always experimenting.

Word of mouth - Neil Pincus from Rude Rock pickups (Gauteng) has rave reviews for his custom pups. I havn't heard any firsthand, but I'd be tempted to try his vintage single coils (think he was quoting R700/ea in Oct 2015).

One thing I did think about last nite was asking if the local Fender agents have replacement CV and VM pickups available. Perhaps that's a possible budget option - can't hurt to ask!

I might.. but They're the electromatic filtertrons. they sound great, but people don't generally want them.. I'm looking for something different now though.. :-[

Call made, nothing stocked locally - they're gonna get a quote from europe ???. I'm expecting R450-R550/ea - more when I know it.

I played a set a while ago - I liked em, not as sensitive as the T.V Jones in lapdawg's last build.

They're not being imported at the moment, but he hung on to the Domain name. Best option for humbuckers at the moment is... ? Either try find a member selling one, or look at importing yourself

Well, they can get "warranty repair" (supplied w/o packaging) CV's strat pickups at +/-R535/ea. That's kinda tempting, seeing as that's inc duties/shipping...might get a set.

Will ask about the carbonita ones.
