Hi all
I'm a newbie. Looking for advice on pick-up upgrade.
Guitar is a Samick 664 prophet with 'through body neck'. It's been a great guitar in every respect but I've never been happy with stock pick-ups.
I'm looking for a smoother, more mellow sound, and for lead solo more Gibson type sound (singing not screeching), and with good sustain. (Perhaps I'm just getting older)
Set-up as you can see is bridge Humbucker, middle single and neck single.
Advice would be appreciated on what brand and model of pick-up's to consider.
Appreciate any advice.

As I can see? ?
It's quite hard to give advice as there are so many options available. Try find some 2nd hand to reduce costs. Pretty much every brand makes a Gibson style humbucker. Have a listen on youtube to pickups by dimarzio, seymour-duncan, Gibson, and others.
I'm pretty sure a Gibson '57 classic would work for you, but they're probably a bit more expensive than equivalents from some other manufacturers that are every bit as good.
Gearhead
Youtube, as well as manufacturers sites. Then, second hand market. Firstly to save money, secondly to keep momentum in our second hand pup market. We have to move gear to try gear!
Foottapiologist
Take a look at GuitarFetishdotcom. They have some interesting parts on offer at prices attractive enough to not be a big issue buying without first testing. I've bought from them before and it was a painless process. I just made sure to add a few extra groceries into my bundle to dilute the postage price a bit.
You'll need to register as a buyer before your postage price reflects on your basket
