Hi. Foottapiologist here.
Mediocre guitar player but I think about it often. ? I'm more of a beating the bongo in the corner guy rather than guitar virtuoso getting all the chicks, hence my choice of forum name. Kinda like a bass player :?
Tolerable with a few other instruments. Control freak DIY tweaker and fixer-upperer of my own instruments, which on reflection, would appear to be where my main interest lies. So I just learned something about myself right there. My contribution to the forum will probably be in the tech/gear sections rather than showing off my riffs.
I was referred here by Prolificbuyer. We have similar tastes in buying other peoples trash on cheapskate budgets and making it sound nice to our own ears.
I'm a toppie, been-there-done-that with a few scars, so not hung up at all on brand names or cool-factor, and just acquire, refurbish, and play stuff for my own gratification.

My current stable is as follows. :
Cort X-11 (busy undergoing a re-fret. 11's)
Cort KX-5 (busy undergoing a complete rebuild- I reckon when it's finished it will be my new favourite geet. Got a very Les Paul tone to it. Was strung with 11's, undecided if I might go down to 10's when ready to rock)
Cort G110 (in a permanent state of modification- I love the weight/balance/feel so it's "my guitar". Maybe put some duct tape over the G110 label one day. Strung with EB 10's)
Cort S-400 (I think 400- It's a bit of an anomaly) (Bought it shop-soiled. Refurbished it. Sits in it's original box. I quite like it but never play it - too many similar stratty guitars I suppose- should probably sell it. Put new strings on it recently- dunno what I was thinking, waste of a set of 11's)
Fender Squier Affinity Strat (Bought it 2nd hand, did new EB 9's and set-up etc, never touched it since. Must go up to 10's or 11's...or just sell it)
Cort Earth60 (Hated it and nearly sold it, till I lowered the tuning to D now I love it)
Vintage VTG100n travel guitar (Peculiar tone. My opinion varies day to day from intense love to hate but I reckon that's just my third rate skills to blame. Nice for finger-picking on my stomach while lamming out on the couch)
Aria AW100 (Amazing guitar. Amazing tone. Looked for one after playing Prolificbuyer's one)
President 386 12-string (Waiting for some TLC. Bridge lifting etc. Luthiers estimated around R15k for a thorough going over so that ain't gonna happen. Stand by for a DIY thread on this one. It has beautiful tone so worth the effort)
Concerter WK588 (Bought for the hell of it. Serves as a test bed for learning DIY skills)
Yamaha C45 (My braai jammer)
Yamaha G231II (My jammer for when larnies come braai)

And a few amps. No pedals yet- I just think of the combined price of a full pedal board and go put the kettle on rather. But I'd like to get a tuner so the pedal bug will probably bite

I'm also a fan of seeing how sweet I can get cheepie to play/sound. As a result I have a soft spot for...Corts ?
