I have three questions (irrespective of the genre):
1) What skill set does a proficient solo player need?
2) What skill set does a proficient lead player need?
3) What skill set does a proficient rhythm player need?

I think the primary skill needed by all three is a sound knowledge of Chord theory, and a great familiarity with the fretboard.
After that I suppose things like timing and phrasing come into play.

Thank for the replies. after some research I found the following:
1: Aural
2: Finger picking (Patterns as well as technique)
3: Strumming (Patterns as well as technique)
4: Fredboard knowledge
5: Scale knowledge
6: Lead techniques
I do have some skills in all of them. Some more than others.
