Werner77 Hi Guys I am looking for somebody in the pretoria/gauteng area who can teach me some fingerstyle guitar. Please let me know if you know of anydoby who can help. Thanks Werner
Werner-Carstens Hi Werner (from another one), I see that you have not received any replies - I had the same problem starting out in this style. I love Travis Picking as well as chicken picking (which have Travis picking at its roots) but could not find anybody in the Cape Town area who had the time or know-how to teach me. I decided to strike it out on my own and started looking around for material to teach myself. I found the Guitar Techniques magazine very helpful and I only buy editions that have Travis picking or Hot country picking lessons as it is expensive. I also started reading about the famous guitar players in this genre - Pat Travis, Chet Atkins, Jimmy Reed, Brad Paisley, Brent Mason, Albert Lee - got their music and tabs. Then it was simply a case of practising on my own. This is still my primary method of gaining skills in this style of playing and it takes a lot of discipline, but it is working for me. PS. Almal dink country en finger style is maklik - dink weer.
