singemonkey What's the story with this one? This is a typical 1929 Gibson RB1. 'Bird' inlays, different resonator flanges. Has it been modified?
RifferMadness Hi Singemor To answer your question I sent photos serial numbers etc to a guy named Dan Foy at bajophiles.com a few years back. Part of his reply is as follows: "That is an RB-1 from around 1927. these are very rare from that period. I have only seen one other banjo from the batch, and it was offered by a music dealer for something less than $3,000 about a year ago" I obviously got the year wrong as it is actually 1927. If you want to know more send me a mail and I will try to forward you the emails I have regarding the dates etc. It has a silkscreened "The Gibson" logo which was common during the great depression.
