Some background. I recently bought a Cort KX5 that, at the time, I thought was going to be my new favourite guitar (cheapskate les paul). It needed a fret job but I factored that into my plans. While busy with it I started scratching around and found an unsoldered pick-up wire, a suspect pot, and a corroded bridge, so I decided to strip it.
The bridge and screws etc went into a vinegar bath to soak. I often soak stuff in either vinegar or coke to clean off residue, white/red rust, etc.
And the bridge came out looking like the attached photo. It was soft to the touch and the metal literally smeared off like butter.
The bridge itself looks like chromed brass but the saddle bits look like a reject pewter or similar that's come to the end of its life.
I'm looking for suggestions for:
Anywhere to get used parts to refurbish the bridge by replacing the damaged bits, or
Where to buy a decent replacement bridge in SA, or
Where to buy ANY replacement bridge in SA, or
What new improved version of bridge is suggested to import for this repair .
I'm open to any suggestions and chirps.
