Has any one had success in emulating that NIN/Mansons industrial guitar sound, and if so, HOW?

You would need something like a Marshall JMP1
and a guitar with high output humbuckers

Oh forgot to mention....
2 guitar takes : Pan Hard Left / Right
Compress them and cut a lot of the bass frequencies...
A lot the "Industrial Sound" Is a seperate bass track which is HUGE and overdriven
The guitar is crunchy thick but doesnt have much bass / so the listener gets that feeling of "separation in the mix'
A drop D tuning or even Drop C , could also help

Industrial Guitar sound = FUZZ, normally not distortion or overdrive.
Trent Reznor uses these pedals for his Fuzz: Zvex Fuzz Factory, Zvex Machine, Zvex Woolly Mammoth, Way Huge Swollen Pickle, Metasonix Butt Probe, MXR Blue Box, Foxx Tone Machine and some others. I'm not really a huge fan but I do quite like Industrial Guitar tones.
I have a Fuzz Factory, Zoom Ultra Fuzz, Catalinbread SCOD, MI Audio Neo Fuzz and and they all come very close to (or nail) those industrial-type tones if you set them correctly. My sister has the Electonix Messdrive and Messdrive Hybrid bass fuzz pedals (both not available in SA) which work great for those type of tones on guitar too. If you can find a bass fuzz pedal give it a try on guitar as well.
For a cheaper options check out these substitutes for Trent's boutique pedals:
-Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi (which the Swollen Pickle is basically just an improvement/ mod of) Russian or NYC.
-Danelectro French Toast (a cheaper reproduction of the Foxx Tone machine Octave Fuzz)
-MXR Blue Box Lower Octave Fuzz - this isn't expensive so no substitute needed.
-Fender Blender Octave Fuzz (apparently also used on some NIN stuff) - not exactly cheap in US $, but should be able to get from Fender in SA (unlike a lot of Trent's pedals).
Also check out the Devi Ever pedals online - not too pricey and also designed for industrial/ random noise making etc.
Hope that helps! ?

Yeah, make sure everything sounds tight (machine like as it's industrial ?)and plug your bass into a guitar overdrive pedal or something that sounds super dirty.

I hate that industrial guitar sound, but I told a friend I'd try help him get it. I'll try your suggestions and see what happens.
