Depressed Strings
sarel0
Hi, can somebody help me? I'm an afrikaans guy and I am busy with the set-up of my guitar. Now I read that the string must be depressed at a certain stage. What does this mean? Does it mean I must not press down on the string? This must sound silly, but in the context where it was used, it does not sound so clear to me in what state the string must be.

Jaa English is funny like that.
I'm Afrikaans too. I'm assuming this for the truss rod adjustment? You usually fret the low E and high e strings on the 2nd or 3rd fret and around 17 or so and check the gap between the frets and the string in the middle, to see how much bow there is in the neck. So depress means press down in this instance.

Thanks ez! You are 100% right, it is for trussrod adjustment! Thanks - your point is helpful!

Try any of these brands and rub them on your strings. SSRIs. String Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors. Will prevent your strings getting depressed.
