Although it looks like the only distributor is Paul Bothner.

For EMG the only distributor I could find is Active Music Distribution - http://www.activemusicdistribution.co.za

you best bet is someone bringing you whatever set your heart desires back with them from the states. local prices are wack.

Hey,

This probably too late by now, but maybe someone else with the same problem can benefit. Had the same problem recently when trying to get pickups locally for a bass that I built.

Was able to determine that Marshall Music is the local distro for EMG, Aguilar and some other brands, but getting a definitive date and price is the issue. Waiting for EMG would have taken 3 months and Aguilar around 1 month.

I then went to EMG.com and created an account, which works very much the same as online retailers such as takealot. The pickups I wanted were priced at $99 each and I needed 2. Shipping was listed as a further $55, but as soon as I increased the amount of pickups in my cart from 1 to 2 the shipping was reduced to $0, as any order over $100 qualifies for free DHL Worldwide express shipping. Even better once I went to the check-out screen I received a 15% discount code which brought the price down from $198 to $168. Needless to say I payed right then and there and the pickups were delivered to my door 8 days later.

Getting specialized items locally is always a hassle and you end up paying way more than what the item is actually retailing for, because of shipping costs. The fact that EMG offers free shipping for orders over $100 makes them a very lucrative option for locals.

Thanks man! You at least gave me some direction. To source these kind of things locally is such a schlep! And so overpriced! I know the Rand is not doing well but some of the local suppliers are just plain greedy. I think I'll go the import way. ?

Ja I agree and also buy direct from abroad. And as Deeds says it just takes careful shopping around to get the best postage rates on a bundle. Sometimes I add more stuff that I don't really need just yet to an order just to make the combined price with postage more economical
