I use my Nikon DSLR to make these simple videos (eg.
The sound is okay but not great, the same applies to the video.
I also have an Olympus sound recorder which give a nice quality sound but no video.
Is there an affordable way of making better videos with better video and good sound?

I don't much about the topic - but in helping out with some of the video the gear junkie as up on youtube ( - we used a Canon dslr w/ Rode video mic, but this was soon replaced by a iPhone5!
Bizzarrely, the iPhone's quality usually surpasses the camera + mic.
In a ideal world, we'd have a pair of condensors carefully placed at the source and then sync it back to the video (kinda like combining your Nikon's video w/Olympus's audio)

I have a friend that uses his camera and recording interface at the same time and then syncs everything up after mixing and mastering. Is that what you mean?

The video quality from your Nikon DSLR camera good enough.
Just a tip on the video, don't have a bright light source behind the object you are filming, because the exposure will cause the object (player and guitar in this instance) to appear to dark, as it is in the video, you linked to, for the first 16 seconds.
You can also get a tripod so the image will be stable if this suits your filming process.
To improve the quality of your audio I would suggest that you use a shotgun mic (pointed at the source of the audio you are trying to capture) into the microphone input of the camera (that is if your model has mic input, sorry I'm not too familiar with the features of DSLR cameras).
If your camera does not have a microphone input. You could record the audio using your olympus recorder (provided it actually has better audio recording that your Nikon, which of course will depend on which model olympus it is) pointing at and positioned closer to the audio source you are trying to capture. Some trial and error is needed in terms of mic placement to see how you can get the best sound. Then you need to sync the video from your camera with the audio from your olympus in a DAW.

That is exactly what I'm trying to do.I want to use ipad for video but a better mike than the one in ipad.I have a blue spark condenser mike already and studio one professional daw on a pc.I use a presonus 22vsl interface for the daw on the pc.Presonus has a new interface out for ipad but i don't want to by it unless it will work with the ipad video in real time, and then import it into the daw for editing?Any thoughts.

DSLR input preamps are useless, nearly all of them. So, you CAN use something like the tascam DR-60 to run a decent mic into your camera, then you get one video file with half decent audio.
The BEST thing you can do is buy a Zoom H4n or H6 and either use the onboard mic's (they're really good) or get a good shotgun mic and plug it into the zoom. Sync it in post.

The mics on even the more entry level Zoom's are incredible, blown away by the sound they produce relative to the cost. Pretty easy to sync the video to the audio after the fact, just use a nice loud click sound when starting the recording to use to accurately/easily sync them later.
