I'm looking at getting the Toneport UX8 for the studio. It's got the USB connectivity with 8 channels in & out etc etc. Has anyone ever used one of these? Any pro's & con's I need to know about. I have checked the ratings on Zzounds and read the reviews on Musicians Friend and it seems quite capable.
Any feedback would be appreciated

I have the Toneport GX (the baby of the toneport range) and it is an amazing little unit!!
i would imagine any higher series of Toneport could only be better and well worth the money. While the software that came with my toneport (Gearbox) is very useful and versatile, it lacks the range of amps, cabs, effects etc of other software such as guitar rig 3.

Thanks Doc-phil ? .
I can imagine that Guitar Rig 3 is the better one, the possibilities seem endless when compared to what I've read about Gearbox.
Any chance that you know of guys that stock these/ Line 6 Agents?

Sorry I'm not really sure where you could get it in jhb. I got mine in Durban from Coastal Music, i dont suppose that helps you much tho.
Don't discount the Gearbox software tho, I also have guitar rig 3 and in many instances I've found some of the patches I've made in Gearbox sound a lot better than some of the presets in GR3. The only thing I found limiting about Gearbox is the effects and the inablitity to stack effects.
Also another thing, although I'm not really familiar with other brands of USB connections for guitar etc, the direct monitoring system in the Toneport is amazing. It has virtually zero latency; I really can't tell the difference between playing through my pc and through my actual amp.

Thanks Doc...I'm sure TOMS or the like should be able source one.
