It is with great pleasure that I reveal to you all these great musical gifts. I love how you all took the theme and just ran with it. No one gets a lump of coal this Christmas. Also, big shout out to our main man Norio for sponsoring this challenge. He has always been backing this forum, specifically the competitions, and for that we are all super grateful. But enough soppy stuff, onto the entries. BEGINNER Hasie - At least better than Buble http://guitarforum.co.za/gfsacomps/mp3s/hasie.mp3 I decided not to embrace the Jingle Bells and just attempts some rock/blues. INTERMEDIATE G-Man - For whom the bells jingle http://guitarforum.co.za/gfsacomps/mp3s/gman.mp3 It's basically a Jingle Bells cover but more metal. :D Wern101 - A synical christmas http://guitarforum.co.za/gfsacomps/mp3s/wern101.mp3 I wanted to create a synical, silly, sarcastic song about Christmas, so I took the song ‘Deck the Halls’ and did a cover version with new lyrics.. I did everything with my trusty Stag acoustic and mixpad multitrack recording software. I am quite new at recording so this is very raw and unedited. Basically added some chorus / echo to the voice and rhythm guitar – that’s it, nothing else. I did the whole thing in less than an hour… ADVANCED Stoffeltoo - Another Never Christmas http://guitarforum.co.za/gfsacomps/mp3s/stoffeltoo.mp3 A bit of a social commentary song on current affairs Standard drum track No Pan Vocals and rhythm myself, panned 15% right I used a vocaliser for the harmony Centre Bass compliments of G1Xon played by me Pan 15% left Lead D2 heavy played by myself V8 - Jingle Hells *Please click on link - I think V8 broke the player with his track :D http://guitarforum.co.za/gfsacomps/mp3s/v8.mp3 Errrrr...ummm....It's a parody! Struggled to get a decent vocal (nothing new...I'm a crappy singer :)), so here's the lyrics. Crashing through the shops, Buying me more socks, Why don't you just go Shop on takealot Buying me all these things, when all I want is strings And some more cold beer to help with festive cheer Jingle Hells Santa Smells All the elves are freaks And all I really wanna do Is get me back to sleep. Adrian Rogowski - Boney Ho No No http://guitarforum.co.za/gfsacomps/mp3s/adrian.mp3 I think this is type of seasonal christmas cultural collab/medley. In other words, how Christmas music might be heard in different musical cultures or so. That, and I just had fun messing around. The idea came from me wanting to do a different interpretation of a standard christmas tune (one that isn't copyrighted anymore that is, so Norio won't get in trouble). But I took the idea further and came up with 5 or so different interpretations on this classic carol How I recorded? Well my gear is still packed up from moving, so I just had my trusty M-Audio interfact, plugged my Fender straight into it, and software did the rest. I use Ableton, stock plugins, Guitar Rig for those raunchy guitars, and Battery 3 for drum samples.
