Every once in a while you record yourself messing around and then something amazing happens. This is one of those times.
No, I don’t mean to blow my own trumpet (or play my own lead..haha), but I am thoroughly impressed with what I created. The problem is I wasn’t paying attention, so now I can’t re-create it. (face palm)
I started off by writing a song, lyrics and acoustic chords only. I recorded those parts and felt the song needed something. So I added an electric rhythm part and that sounded cool. Then I muted the lyrics and messed around with the lead parts, literally reading off of the Blues scales chart in front of me as I went along. The result is this clip.
I wanted to create a ‘heavy’ sound with the lead that tells its own story, and I think I got that right.
I know there are lots of mistakes and flaws, especially with the lead and my struggling to bend strings to the correct note, but all in all, I am fairly happy with the end result, as this was the first multiple instrument track I did.
The recording setup was basically my HP laptop and Mixpad software. I am VERY new to recording, so I only added chorus effects to the instruments after I recorded. No other post recording editing was done.
The song is over 5 minutes, but I would appreciate any honest input / crit on the music, NOT the recording quality.
I uploaded to soundcloud here:
Thanks!!

Thanks studmissile. I definitly want to take this one further, but i made no notes about the amp setup or anything. I literally have to create it again from scratch.... but thats part of the fun right. ☺
