Selmer Amplifiers
Mikee3man
Hi everyone,
A friend from work mentioned he has a Selmer amp which is from the 60's. It has been lying in his garage for years and years. (I think he bought it in the 70's). Does anyone know much about these amps? All i know from him is that it is a 50W combo tube amp, with 2 channels (2 inputs per channel) and it has a few effects built into it. I have narrowed it down to possibly be the Zodiac or the Thunderbird. He is not sure what model it is and cannot check until the weekend. He says the speakers will have to be replaced, but the tubes and amp itself should be working 100%
Long story short - Has anyone had any experience with these amps? I dont want to buy something that isnt worth fixing up. Thanks in advance!

I got the amp! It looks horrible, but it sounds really amazing and everything works except for the tremolo footswitch (Cable has been chewed up). I have tried to attach some pics. The one speaker has been chewed up by rats I think. I have never played anything bigger than my TSA15 Head and Cab, but Im pretty sure the tone from this Selmer is close to amps like the AC30 or a Fender Twin. It is seriously loud and I cant take the volume past 60% without the windows shaking :P Does anyone know what I should do with the one speaker? It works perfectly but im worried that I could cause more damage by playing with a chewed up speaker. Any advice will be much appreciated Thanks - Mike

Those goodmans speakers are really nice. Just have that one reconed. It shouldn't be too expensive. I'd also have the grille cloth replaced.

I will do that. Any idea who can re-cone speakers in Durban?
