Hey Everyone
I'm new to this forum, but guitaring has been a passion of mine for as long as I could remeber, and
now I'm in need of another guitarist's help...
I stumbled across a guitar I'd really love to buy, but due to my lack of ebay-ish experience, my
un-creditcard-worthy age and the 1 day and about 10hour-deadline, I fear that I won't be able to
start bidding on it in time.
This may seem like a lot, but all I'm asking for is if someone who regularly uses ebay would be willing
to bid in my honour... I allready have a USA destination to where it has to be sent, I only need to
be able to bid. I will even give that person a few extra bucks for banking cost and their effort etc.
Please post something if your able to help, you'll really make my dreams come true...
Thanks a lot... :-[

not sure if you've noticed but ebay now has a .co.za address, not sure if that makes it any easier for you.

Would help if I could. Or maybe I shouldn't.
The first thing to learn about Ebay is that there are no 'unique opportunities' because of the sheer volume of stuff being traded. Even if you want 1 of a limited production run of 50 worldwide, chances are within a year another one will be for sale. On Ebay.
The second thing is that there are little 'super deals'. Because of the enormous amount of people bidding and the good search capability, chances for a good deal to somehow sneak past everyone's attention are slim.
The third thing is that it is not to bid too soon. The closer to the deadline, the more opportunists try to just get in their bid.
Don't mean to sound patronising, just wanted to save you some money. We all have GAS here so we know what it's like. Spend enough time with GAS and you'll just feel it as a distant pain rather than a gripping ache.

Hi JP - welcome to the forum.
To be honest, you are probably asking a bit much for your first post. Because of all the scams about these days, people are wary about online transactions involving third parties (and rightly so). These things are best done via family members or close friends, rather than what effectively amount to complete strangers online.
Gearhead is also right that what seems like a bargain on Ebay with a day to go will probably not stay that way. With sniping (automatic bidding at the last minute to try win an auction before someone else can respond), a lot of the action often happens in the last few minutes of an auction, and if you get two or more snipers in the last few minutes the price skyrockets.
What guitar is it you want to get?

I realised that it might be a bit to much to soon, but thanks anyway... :? The guitar had been a PRS Custom 24, blue tortoise shell, with the bird-inlays... When I initially stumbled upon it, bidding was at $970 (for some reason there hadn't been a reserve price, don't know if it was some kind of ploy, but at that time, well, my eyes had been bigger than my thoughts haha), and I freaked. Last I checked it was at $1140, with about 16 minutes to go, and even if another $500 would've been added, it would still have been a steal. Either way, i guess these things happen a lot, and I'll strike my luck someday haha. ?
But thanks for checking it though! :?
