Anyone seen this movie? It's brilliant...

Basically a college kid dies in a school shooting and his dad finds all these home recordings he did - he plays one of the songs at an open mic night and this one youngster loves it and they end up forming a band playing these songs. Don't want to spoil the movie for anyone, but there's some twists and turns, moral dilemmas etc etc, but its a really good, deep movie with some brilliant songs too. Oh, and some great guitar eye candy (I think there is even a Tokai in it towards the end).

Anyway, if you're looking for a musical themed movie, I really enjoyed this

I saw this one a recent plane ride, and I agree, it's excellent. Billy Crudup really does a good job, and Anton Yelchin is cool too. And I really enjoy the songs - in fact I was talking with a guitar teacher of mine recently about learning that song at the end, although I haven't done that yet.

I did some research after seeing the film about the actors and whether they actually played the instruments and from what I recall it seemed that they did. So that's cool.

I did enjoy it. For anyone wanting to avoid spoilers, don't look up the songs from the film on youtube, as one of them gives away the ending. See the flick first for the proper emotional impact.

Yeah, also did some digging and it looks like they did all the recording and singing - I really like Yelchin's voice and have been a fan of the bass player in the movie, Ben Kweller's music for a while (he sings and plays guitar so I didn't realize he was that good at bass)

I definitely need practice - I really battle with fingerstyle because I am very new to it. I need to just spend some time with this song and work it out.

And of course, there are a couple other songs I would like to do the same thing with...
