These both look great. About ash- it is very dense. Initially, Fender where able to get light ash cheaply, but once it became harder to find, they started chambering out Telecasters, and that's where the
Thinline Tele comes from. It's also why guitar builders talk about 'swamp ash' - ash grows faster (and hence less dense) when it has a lot of water.
