Howzit people!
Here’s one for ya...
While searching for a travel guit I found this acoustic near Heidelburg, Germany in ’87 in the back of a basement repair shop between the rejects and unwanted trash for next to nothing.
As you can see it’s been hacked and patched dreadfully BUT, you won’t believe this things sound and action.
It is still exactly the same as I bought it so the previous owner/s did all the dirty on it. It wasn’t me, ok!
At some stage someone must have drilled holes in the top to add what I guess where volume and tone knobs. Those were then patched up very roughly with something like wood filler and Pratley’s...
It also has a very Heath Robbinson hand carved bridge with brass strip and brass nut on it.
The PUP can slide to either side of the sound hole and sounds very sweet.
In fact it beats a lot of very expensive brand names in tone and volume and its intonation is absolutely perfect.
Now, who can tell what brand and/or model it is? There are absolutely no identifiable markings, serial numbers, stickers or logos on it, inside or out.
I’ve asked many people and everybody has a different opinion but from what I’ve seen it could be/have been a Levin but I’m really not 100% sure.
It’s been bothering me for almost 30 years so if someone could help that would be great.
Second question, that PUP is wired directly to the ¼ jack. I would love to install a volume and tone or at least a volume control to it if possible.
What is available and where could I source something like that?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Here a few pics: (Don't laugh!!!)
