I saw this. There's a couple of great parts in this video. I did NOT know that Marshall was down to 17 employees in the 1980s, just before the JCM800 struck it big.
I also didn't know that the 59 Bassman's design was a standard kind of circuit without any patent hassles. I've always wondered how Marshall could just copy that circuit for their amp. For those who don't know this, the 1959 Fender Bassman and the JTM45 has *exactly* the same circuit, but some component values differ as do the valves and the speaker, which gives each their own sound, however, it is possible to build your own amp today that has a switch, that will switch the amp between the two configurations.
Ironic how the whole point of Marshall's amps were to be louder and dirtier than anything else and that today they're just being used as clean amps (mostly) I've seen people comment on the way they like plexis and JTM45s "for their clean headroom". ?
