Big ups to V8 for suggesting this idea, and Norio for this mid month theme.

Your entry must be strictly between 15 - 30s long.
You may only use 1 guitar
Try create something that could be used as a cellphone ringtone (think Nokia, only 1 guitar)

SWEEEEET!!!! I already have some stuff recorded... but with 2 guitar tracks... lol. I will redo one and enter it.

I seem to write like "boss fight scene" riffs... which can work well as ringtones... lol

So as a ringtone does it need to be energetic, as to catch someone's attention, or can it be kind of mellow?

I'm approaching it as : 1 instrument only (guitar), 2 tracks (either a single take dbl'ed up or two seperate takes of the same thing). I want to work on mic'ing up my amp, so the only FX I can use will be what I've on the amp (reverb).

I'm thinking this challenge favours the peeps who can do a mixture of walking bass line or percussion with a melody line - solo jazz style. A flamenco style rumba could also work real well?

Not sure if we're aiming at a Nokia 1110 (ewwww, 8bit) or a phone that can do mp3. I'm going for something that can play mp3 (smart-ish phone).

Since no-one here is actually going to listen to it off a phone, I wouldn't have to worry about mixing for the poor frequency response of a cell phone speaker, though I'd want to know if someone mixed it specifically as a ringtone, the bits that were important to the tune, survived the processing - from what I've googled, the spec for a landline is "300Hz to 3kHz" and what I've found for smartphone speakers mention a typical response of 300Hz-4kHz.

Signed...sealed and delivered. Just sent in my entry. I did just one guitar track. Kept it under 30 seconds. My first attempt was lacking clarity and the notes were getting all jumbled up...so I dialed the gain down and added some eq and there's more clarity in the piece now. Whoop.

Not going into more detail for now cos I don't know if we are doing the blind voting or not this time.
