I've never learned a whole song from beginning to end. Just always got bored or something I guess. So I got Rocksmith to fix that... And it has BROKEN me!...

Been following this thread and did some research on getting rocksmith - thanks to EZ for the cheepshark link.

Just two noob questions

1. does rocksmith/rocksmith2014 come standard with the bass stuff, or is it a add-on/different version of rocksmith?
2. The "tonecable" latency - how does it affect gameplay? I see some peeps have managed to get audio interfaces (unsupported, I know) working - makes more sense to me when I can get around 6ms RTL on my setup.

You can make the latency less, if you have a fast enough CPU. You prob do. There's some settings you can change.

I think the latency stuff is easy enough to fix. I got some advice for Mac from a fellow forumite (in this thread I think) and never had to worry about it again.

The one really tricky bit is... having to retune your guitar multiple times. Not a problem if you have a hardtail but a HUGE pain in the arse if you have a floating bridge.

I'm wanting to buy a hardtail JUST for this purpose, lol! It really makes a huge difference when 50%+ of the songs I want to play are in alternate tunings.

(My current song-selection, including DLC, is about 40% in E Standard, 30% Drop D, and the remaining 30% in other tunings.)

Thank you for the advice gents - now keeping an eye out on a special, though I see game republic have Rocksmith 2014 for 30USD...not bad at all - still I should have snapped up that steam special!

A Tele is a real players guitar. Makes you work, makes you better. All my guitars have fixed bridges, including the new one that is coming ?

Wouldn't mind a guitar with a Bigsby though ?

+1. There's something about the simplicity of a tele that I'm finding quite charming. If you'd told me 20yrs ago I'd be typing this, I'd have slapped you with a pap snoek ?

2 guitars w/fixed bridges and 2 with floating bridges (both of which can be locked into a fixed bridge..and usually are).

Sooooo, what's this new guitar you speak of?

Honestly I just don't like how Teles (or Strats) look. I'd rather get me a Schecter or an Ibby.

I played a Schecter once and, apart from looking good, it felt really good. Methinks it's a good fit for all the hard rock and metal I love ?

I recently acquired an epiphone les paul junior which is going to become my rocksmith guitar because of some of the crazy tunings. lol.

I also got a bunch of guitar wall hangers from a dude of FB so I'm gonna put my guitars up on the wall in my study. The more accessible the gear the more likely I am to jam often.

lol! Warren this (ie: Rocksmith) is exactly the reason why I'm getting a multi-guitar stand. I considered the wall hangers but thought... with my epic (read: non-existent) DIY skills, I will be picking up guitar pieces from the floor for MONTHS!

So my sexy white JS100 will be in E Standard.
My badass black RG42-DX will be in Drop D.

That leaves one space open. I have a sneaking suspicion that won't last very long ?

Disclaimer: I am not a natural and yes it took me almost 300 hours. Having said that I've bought so much dlc that I rarely play the same song more than twice a day or even twice a week.

I figure it can work quite nicely but, of course, not as well as with an electric as most of the songs are geared towards that.

I'm no expert in these areas but I'd say the major thing to consider is good pickups. As long as there's a pretty decent signal going in, it should sound pretty good coming out.

There are also quite a lot of songs that call for a more acoustic sound so if acoustic is your thing, you actually might have some nice DLCs to play. (But still way less than electric guitar DLCs.)

Well done bro!

I remember getting my first 100% on Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar On Me. The bass part.

It's soooo easy. I highly recommend it to anyone needing something easy to master in Rocksmith. It really made me feel good considering I've never really played bass before.

Now I've moved on to some more challenging bass numbers and still getting some "easy wins" compared to rhythm and lead. It's tons of fun without nearly as much work.

Iv got RockSmith on my PS4, playing with headphones and an acoustic guitar. It works really well actually! I need to spend some more time on it though... The arcade games can be loads of fun!

Oh No! I just loaded Windows 10 onto my laptop and now this game is super slow. >☹ I am trying to set all settings to minimum but it just won't speed up. I'm going to gut my wife's laptop to see if additional memory will solve it. :'(
