I download reaper and its pretty awesome. I connected my guitar directly into the input of my sound card without going through any effect. Is there an option on reaper to monitor the live recording with the built in effects. The only way i can record is to record everything clean and then only after the recording has stopped i can add the effects.

Yes there is, there is a little speaker Icon thingy that you must click to hear the effects etc. Post a screenshot of your Reaper window and I'll try to point em out for ya
