I realise it's probably not cool to be that guy, but I'm gonna be that guy and ask why you're on a South African (Not that we have a problem with international visitors, but as is you're not even a "local") guitar forum spamming your shit without so much as having the decency to maybe introduce yourself, contribute a bit to the community, you know all those things that forums like this are for...

I'm sorry but I didn't realize I had to live in South Africa to spam my "shit" here. I thought I introduced myself in the post and since this seem to be a guitar forum I thought it would be appriated to post a clip of me playing some guitar solos by the greatest guitarists (in my opinion) ever. Maybe I posted this in the wrong place of the forum and for that I'm sorry. I guess you didn't take the time to watch the clip anyway.

It might seem strange to some that you just posted this but im on lots of international guitar forums and ive never gotten a rude reply for just posting my first post without doing an intro about myself first.

I think its great that a international guitarist posted on here!

Look guy, you've got skills we cant deny that. I'm sure it's praise your after in any case. As an international visitor to our humble forum I think Introducing yourself in the "Introductions" thread would have been the friendly thing to do...

I would love to know a bit more about the headless solo man... do you specialize in doing bit's of songs? or do you have a band we can listen to to hear a complete piece of your music? What gear are you running to do your Solo impersonations?

See these are the things we would like to know... Do you have any building experience? What do you do besides 30 second solos? Are you a teacher? Firefighter? Professional Solo artist?

If you would like to contribute to our community i suggest you start by telling us a bit more of yourself... Read some of the posts and give your insights. Heck why not start a healthy debate?

But please don't come into our community and start getting aggressive when folks point you in the right direction because you are not abiding by the rules.

Coming down hard on them will scare away the mean o'le hit-hunters yes, but it also creates an impression of a hostile, closed community who is not welcoming of new members. Rules are rules, fair enough - I get that. But the dude broke one and instead of a reprimand via pm or a friendly pointer towards the rule section, he gets jumped upon and called out for being a foreign attention whore spamming the site with shit.... ???

And while we are on the subject of rules, here's another one: The overriding rule of the forum is: Be nice!

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with him being international.

Only issue is the link-spamming without "earning his place."

FWIW I was using shit as a colloquialism, as in "hey check this shit out" or "I've got some new shit to show you".

As for the international comment I did stipulate that we don't have a problem with that, what I was inferring is that this forum has nothing to do with his scene so coming in here to link to his work just comes across as purely PR spamming.

I am on quite a few forums, the majority of them far stricter than this place, all the big international ones I can think of would have most likely banned him instantly for a month and removed his thread, all these forums have rules about post count before marketing yourself so this should in no way be foreign to anyone joining a new forum as it's almost become a part of all forums generic general rules. There is literally no way anybody who's ever joined a forum before would be ignorant of this, and I guarantee this probably isn't the only forum that had this particular thread started on it.

Yup you're probably right Chad.

I do wanna implement some sort of minimum post thing at some stage. It would make my life a heckuva lot easier by stopping most spam before it can start.

In the meanwhile, if anything is dodgy, feel free to click the "Report to moderator" link. It gets emailed to me and I do act on those things.

(I don't check every thread so I rely on that to keep things in check. Muchos gracias to those few who report spammers. It really helps.)

OK I'm really sorry for pollution your forum. I've never made any guitar videos or joined any guitar forums before but I thought it was the time to do it since I recorded a couple of videos. As someone mentioned this is spamming and yes I joined 10 or 11 guitar forums on the same day and I posted the same thing but I was just hoping to find a place where people liked the same guitarists as me and appreciated a couple of solos. I probably should have introduced myself first before posting this so if anyone's interested here's a few lines:

I'm a 41 years old and I'm the singer,guitarist and songwriter of a Swedish band called Crystal Eyes. I started this band in 1992 and we've released 7 records. I'm also the singer of a Judas Priest tribute band called Defenders Of The Faith. My gear is Gibson Explorers and ENGL Savage 120.

If you're not interested in 30 second metal guitar solos you could search for Crystal Eyes and the song “Guardian” on YouTube and then you'll find an acoustic song were I play guitar and sing. Maybe you like it or maybe you don't but it's the best I can offer.

Once again I'm really sorry.
