My band, Sideshow Radio just released our first song to YouTube.
We recorded it in a friend's 'home studio' setup, you could say that this was as DIY as it gets. Nevertheless, he mixed and mastered it for us and we shot a cheesy video to go along with it.
We had a ton of fun doing this and I'd like to share it with you guys. Some good and honest criticism is more than welcome.
Here is the YouTube video:
So far, there is just two of us but we are looking to grow as a band as circumstances permit.
Thank you for listening. ?

Nice job, definitely an achievement. The vocals just need some "balls", big choruses etc and it's pretty catchy.

Very cool, especially for a first attempt (and cool video too). Who are your influences? Got a bit of an Ash sound to it

Awesome dudes ?
This track has a lot of potential. Good structure to the song, catchy lyrics, fun drumming... sounds like a good time.
The mix could definitely use a lil polish.

Thanks guys. We certainly did have lots of fun!
@21 Fretter: Haha! Still learning how to add the balls. ?
Our main influences are in the alternative pop/rock, pop-punk spectrum.
All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Panic! at the Disco, Anberlin (a huge influence for me), The Maine, We Are The In Crowd, PVRIS, and a few others.
The mixing definitely took the longest time overall. Critically though, what would you change about it if I may ask? I'm interested to learn.

I have been eye-ing things post from the corner of my eye. Didn't get tempted to listen I thought I might be less than, and make me angry about my own futile uselessness at attempting a similar task.
But then I found my added balls and listen.
Good shit, I like it. I can rorate that into my current playlist and ask.... Where's there more?

We are writing/planning an EP release (amid the chaos of our Matric school year) for later this year. Hopefully!

Well done! Next time add some gang vocals in the chorous and some harmonies. It will give the chorous some needed grit. Also I would add some ooohhs and aahhs in the chor and bridge. But, thats just me. Good job.

Way to go Josh! In the '90s there was this band from Sweden called Popsicle. Got their album called Abstinence. Your song reminds me of their vibe. Keep on keepin' on! Fun video too.

Hey guys, I don't mean to bump this thread up from the bottom of the pile but I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who came round for a look. ?
Cheers.

Its not bad, its catchy.... Vocals are a bit (as mentioned) lacking. But I think thats recording, and the fact its pretty new to you, and how old are you?
I have a higher toned voice and it took a long time to figure out how to use it right and sit it in a mix.
Your influences however have no relation to your sound..... you listed a bunch of pop punk from yesteryear.... Someone mentioned you sound like ASH and I would be totally in line with that (which is a good thing) I live next door to some of the guys from Anberlin and I think even they hate their band.
Listen to plenty of ASH, and Death Cab for Cutie, maybe even a bit of Muse and thats where I see your voice

This is pretty awesome guys! Well done. Some people mentioned the vocals, and I'd have to agree. Like you were holding it in? I wanted you to really belt out the chorus...
Nice song. Good lyrics and a catchy tune. Well done!!
